Pre & After School Care

Bringing out the best in every child we teach

pre-school-main

At Mercy Primary we have a pre and after-school service that is called SALI Childcare Service Ltd. located within our school grounds.

We understand that parents are busy and have commitments for work, education and training. For this reason, we are open from 8.15am to 6pm, Monday to Friday, to facilitate early drop off and late collection.

Our pre-school services are available to children aged 2 years and 6 months to 12 years. Parents can drop children to SALI Childcare where they will be provided with breakfast and then taken to school.

From September 2016 children will be able to start in free pre-school when they reach age 3 until they transfer to primary school. To make sure that children can benefit from free pre-school as soon as they are eligible, parents will be able to enrol their children at three different points during the year: September, January and April. SALI Childcare can accept children once they are over 2 years and 6 months. Childcare can be paid for up until the child turns 3.

Our after-school services are available to children aged 4 to 12 years. As part of the after-school service SALI Childcare provides a collection service from the following local national schools:

  • Mercy Primary School
  • St. Patrick’s National School
  • St. Nicholas’ Parochial School

SALI Childcare provides a relaxing environment for children to unwind after their day at school or while on days off. Staff supervise homework, provide children with a hot meal and also organise a range of activities that include Art and Crafts, Music and Dance, PE, Baking, ICT and much more.

Free Pre -School Places

The ECCE Scheme can apply to all parents irrespective of their income and is set up to provide free preschool for one year to all children over the age of three years and two months. The free preschool year gives children access to a variety of programme based activities before they begin primary school.

Children who avail of their free pre-school year at SALI Childcare will be more likely to be ready for school and a formal and social environment.

If your child is not eligible for the free pre-school year you can still register your child to attend pre-school at a reduced cost through our Community Childcare Scheme.

Free After -School Places

SALI Childcare also operates under the CETS Scheme. Free childcare places are available to eligible FAS and VEC trainees under the Childcare Education and Training Support Scheme.
