Location and Facilities

Our primary school is situated on the corner of St. Francis Street and the Headford Road in Galway City. We are beside The Town Hall Theatre and Court House junction. The National University of Ireland, Galway (NUIG) and The University Hospital Galway (UHG) are a short walk away. The current school building originated in 1875. It was renovated and extended in 1960 and since then, has been continuously refurbished and updated.

Mercy Primary School is now a 21st century school, each classroom being equipped with up to date technology. Facilities include a Library, Parents’ Room, Play Room, Smartboards, iPads, Computers, Large School Hall, Kitchen, an Equipped Junior Playground and a Roof-Top Garden. We also have a pre-school and after-school service – SALI Childcare.
